I. Current status of industry development

——Global tropics move China fever

Additive manufacturing technology originated in the United States. In 1940, Perera proposed a method of cutting cardboard and bonding layer by layer into a three-dimensional topographic map. Until the end of the 1980s, 3D printing manufacturing technology achieved fundamental development. In 1988, American scientist Hull obtained a patent for the invention of light curing technology and established the world's first additive manufacturing company 3D Systems. At the beginning of the 21st century, with the increasing maturity of technology, materials and equipment, the scope of application of additive manufacturing technology has moved from model and prototype manufacturing to the stage of rapid product manufacturing, and has been widely used in high-end manufacturing fields such as aerospace.

According to the "Global and China 3D Printing Industry Data for 2019" released by CCID Consulting in March 2020, the global 3D printing industry reached US$11.956 billion in 2019, with a growth rate of 29.9% and a year-on-year increase of 4.5%.

The global additive manufacturing industry has basically formed a development trend led by developed countries and regions such as the United States and Europe, and catching up with Asian countries and regions. The United States took the lead in raising the additive manufacturing industry to the height of national strategic development, leading technological innovation and industrialization. The EU and its member states pay attention to the development of metal additive manufacturing technology, and its industrial development and technology application are at the forefront of the world. Russia is actively developing the research and application of laser additive manufacturing technology with its technological advantages in the laser field. Japan has spared no effort to revitalize the additive manufacturing industry and reshape the international competitiveness of its manufacturing industry with the help of additive manufacturing technology.

As can be seen from the figure, the scale of the US industry accounted for 40.4% of the global total in 2019, Germany is second only to the US, and China ranks third. As China, which started 3D printing relatively late, in recent years, it has paid close attention to independent innovation and research and development. Although there is still a certain gap with foreign technology, it is also gradually moving towards refinement and professional development. Of course, the huge domestic market potential has also attracted the attention and investment of many foreign 3D printing industry giants, which has further promoted the development of China's 3D printing industry. Japan and the United Kingdom also have a certain scale in the field of 3D printing materials and equipment, accounting for 8.2% and 6.3% of the global industry scale respectively.

——Policy to accelerate the 3D printing industry

In February 2020, my country issued the "Action Plan for Piloting Additive Manufacturing Standards (2020-2022)", proposing that by 2022, a new standard system for additive manufacturing based on national conditions and internationally connected will be basically established. Promote the formulation of 2-3 my country's superior additive manufacturing technologies and standards as international standards, and the conversion rate of international standards for additive manufacturing will reach 90%.

Policy interpretation In recent years, the application of my country's 3D printing market has continued to deepen, and it has been widely used in aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding, nuclear industry, molds and other fields. 3D printing technology has become an important technical means for the repair and remanufacturing of direct manufacturing machines in aerospace and other fields. It has become an important realization method for product design and rapid prototyping in fields such as automobiles, ships, nuclear industry, and molds.

From 2017 to 2020, the scale of my country's 3D printing industry is increasing year by year, and the growth rate is slightly faster than the overall global growth rate, so that the proportion of my country's 3D printing industry in the world is increasing. In 2019, the scale of China's 3D printing industry was 15.75 billion yuan, an increase of 31.1% over the previous year. It is preliminary estimated that the scale in 2020 will exceed 20 billion yuan.

——Equipment-oriented, materials and services are equally divided

According to the "Global and China 3D Printing Industry Data in 2019" released by CCID Consulting in March 2020, in 2019, China's 3D printing equipment industry scale was 7.086 billion yuan, accounting for the highest proportion, reaching 45%; the 3D printing service industry scale was 4.567 billion yuan Yuan, accounting for 29%; 3D printing materials industry scale is 4.094 billion yuan, accounting for 26%.

Second, regional development analysis

——Industry scale perspective

In 2019, due to outstanding 3D printing equipment and service capabilities in Central South and East China, the industrial scale distribution ranked first and second in the country, accounting for 37.2% and 32.6% respectively. In North China, due to outstanding 3D printing materials and service capabilities, the industrial scale ranks third in the country, accounting for 12.4%.

——Capital perspective

3D printing concept stocks: the most in Guangdong Province

According to the 3D printing concept stock query of Lushen listed companies, as of August 31, 2020, there are 50 3D printing concept listed companies, of which Guangdong Province leads the country, and there are 10 listed companies related to 3D printing concepts; followed by Jiangsu Province 7 of them.

3D printing financing event: Guangdong Province leads the way

According to the investment event database of Enniu Data, as of the end of August 2020, there were 271 3D printing-related investment and financing incidents in China, of which 65 occurred in Guangdong, accounting for 24% of the total number of investment and financing incidents; followed by 50 in Beijing. Accounted for 18.5% of the total number of investment and financing events.

——Industrial park perspective: Guangdong and Zhejiang are on the same level

As of the end of August 2020, my country has 19 3D printing industrial parks, including 3 in Guangdong and Zhejiang, 2 in Shaanxi and Jiangsu, and most other cities have and only one 3D printing industrial park.

——The number of enterprises perspective

Enterprises are concentrated in East China and South Central Region

According to the "Global and China 3D Printing Industry Data in 2019" released by CCID Consulting in March 2020, in 2019, East China is the main gathering area for Chinese 3D printing companies, accounting for 42.4% of the country. There are also outstanding enterprises in Central South, North China, Southwest and other regions, accounting for 23.8%, 13.9% and 8.4% of corporate resources respectively.

According to a search by "Qicha Mao", a forward-looking enterprise database, as of the end of August 2020, there will be more than 5,800 new 3D printing-related companies in 2020, but only more than 3,700 in 2019. Among the newly added companies, more than 2,600 have registered Status of Guangdong. In 2020, 3D printing companies in Central and South China have sprung up, surpassing East China to become the region with the largest number of 3D printing related companies. On the whole, 3D printing companies are still concentrated in East China and Central South.
