Launched the implementation of the major special project "Laser and Additive Manufacturing". This special project focuses on three themes and plans to support 10 projects. The project implementation cycle is 3 years. At the time of application, the research content must cover all the content listed under the project, and all the assessment indicators listed under the project should be completed when the project is completed. The total number of participating units shall not exceed 10. Except for special instructions, large enterprises are encouraged to cooperate with innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, universities, scientific research institutes and other units to carry out industry-university-research cooperation declarations for all projects.

As a coastal city, Guangdong Province is close to Hong Kong from a geographical point of view. Hong Kong is my country’s offshore currency settlement center. Currently in the 3D printing market, Europe and the United States have been leading the research and development of global additive manufacturing technology and equipment. The layout of foreign companies in Guangdong Province can stimulate the vitality of the industry to a certain extent.

According to a search by "Qicha Mao", a forward-looking enterprise database, as of the end of August 2020, there will be more than 5,800 new 3D printing-related companies in 2020, but only more than 3,700 in 2019. Among the newly added companies, more than 2,600 have registered Status of Guangdong. In 2020, 3D printing companies in Central and South China have sprung up, surpassing East China to become the region with the largest number of 3D printing related companies. On the whole, 3D printing companies are still concentrated in East China and Central South.

-Innovation ability: well-known in Guangdong province
On December 29, 2019, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the China Institute of Science, Technology and Information released the "National Innovative City Innovation Capability Evaluation Report 2019". Guangzhou and Shenzhen are the first batch of pilot cities supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission respectively. In 2017, the two ministries commissioned a third-party agency to evaluate the 61 pilot cities previously supported. According to the assessment, 61 cities have completed all or most of the tasks set out in the pilot program, achieved the pilot construction goals, and all passed the inspection and acceptance. In 2018, the two ministries and commissions jointly issued a document to support the construction of a new batch of 17 cities to develop innovative cities. Foshan and Dongguan in Guangdong Province are among them.
Judging from the TOP10 cities in the national innovation city innovation capability index, Shenzhen and Guangzhou in Guangdong Province occupy two of the top 5 places, with outstanding innovation capabilities.

The number of 3D printing-related patent applications in my country has entered the embryonic stage in 2012. From 2012 to the end of August 2020, Guangdong Province has applied for a total of 7,197 3D printing-related patents, which is 1.7 times the second place in Jiangsu Province with 4136. It is 2.4 times of the 2,997 cases in the third place in Beijing.
